Recently I was reading a book called The Millionaire Mind. The book offers an intriguing look into the minds of those that have attained over one million dollars in net worth (there’s far more to it then this, but I won’t get that in depth for the purposes of this commentary)…
What’s interesting is that while the people surveyed all tended to come from varying backgrounds, many of them implemented similar philosophies with regards to creating monetary successes in their lives.
I found the following particularly interesting in illustrating the point that these people do not tend to leave things to chance. Rather they chose to formulate their own particular plan in order to achieve what they wanted to manifest in their lives.
Another interesting thing is that the book states that the higher a person’s net worth was on the list, the less likely that person was to ever play the lottery. Now please don’t misunderstand me here, I am not picking on anyone that plays the lottery.
I am simply making a point that the people featured in the book tended to be those who took the time to develop a more selective plan for where they wanted to end up with regards to their monetary goals — rather than simply leaving it to chance. And that my friend is something worth thinking about.

Bird flu is the street name for the Influenza A virus, which is
the virus that causes Avian flu. The name says it all, as Bird
flu is a virus that is hosted by birds. With that said though it
may infect several other species of mammals. First identified in
Italy in around 1905 the virus is now known to exist worldwide.
One strain of the H5N1 virus of avian influenza that first
surfaced in 1997 has been identified as the most likely source
of a future influenza pandemic around the world.
Different strains of the virus may infect various type of
animals. These animals include including birds, pigs, horses,
seals, whales. It is even known that the virus could reach
humans in mass. Avian influenza quickly spreads in the air and
in manure. Contaminated feed, water, equipment and clothing can
also increase transmission. There is no proof at the moment that
the virus can survive in well cooked meat.
The incubation period for Bird Flu is 3 to 5 days. Symptoms vary
among animals. Virulent strains of the H5N1
virus can cause death within a few days. Humans are affected
with similar symptoms as other types of flu. Symptoms such as: -
Fever - Cough - Sore throat - Muscle aches - Conjunctivitis
In extreme cases, severe breathing problems and pneumonia can
result which can be fatal. The result and the extremity of the
infection will depend on the state of the infected person’s
immune system. Somtimes a victim will have been exposed to the
strain before, and will be in part immune to the virus.
It’s important to Note that victims will not experience the flu
like symptoms all of the time. An example is a boy who
experienced diarrhea and then rapidly went into a coma without
developing the respiratory or flu-like symptoms. This situation
suggests non-standard symptoms.

Recently out in the States is the new Asus EEE notebook PC. This is the 4 Gigabyte model which has all the same basic specifications as the first generation of Asus Eee PC’s we’ve come to love and know for many reasons, but mainly because the Asus Eee is an extremely compact and low power consuming notebook that is perfect for travellers as it can fit in small hand luggage and is extremely lightweight.
The only difference we can see is that the new one runs Windows XP. Initial hunting around suggests that it will have an identical price tag to the Linux version of the Asus Eee PC 4G which leads me to believe that one of the statements below could well be probably true:
The Asus EEE 4G PC gives you the following:
This latest version should hit the UK sometime this year with prices around £250 and there will probably be discount voucher codes available for the new Asus EEE’s from the major laptop retailers. Find the codes at http://www.discountshoppinguk.co.uk/offers/pcs-and-laptops when the new Asus EEE launches to make a saving.

The following are questions that Yoga teachers still need to answer, despite overwhelming evidence that Yoga is “the mother of all health maintenance systems.” Mainstream thought is finally catching up, with the progress Yoga is making, but it has taken 5,000 years for us to get this far.
Seriously, How Can Yoga Make You Lose Weight?
Finally, some of the “Yoga and Weight Loss” studies have come in, and even, a little bit of Yoga is much better, than none, for weight control, but there are a number of reasons why. Yoga is a lifestyle change that includes a safe diet; exercise, adjusting posture, breathing, and a whole lot more. Most of the
Yoga practitioners, I know, consume more water, eat more moderately, and take more care of their bodies, in comparison to the many who don’t want to leave the couch.
Aren’t you supposed to jump up and down for at least a half-hour per day to exercise enough to lose weight?
Maybe the masses have been “brain washed” into thinking that you have to feel the pain, suffer, starve, and have a near death experience, to lose weight. Depending upon your size, the average person, in a moderate Hatha yoga class, is burning in the neighborhood of 200 calories per hour. There are Vinyasa Yoga classes, that will burn more calories, with much more flowing and active movement. Just remember, that your safety is top priority, and you will be fine.
There are also Yoga classes where you can feel the pain, heat, and suffer.
This is great for those who feel the need to “pay for their sins.” Maybe this is considered “penance,” for years of consuming excessive pizza, burgers, and buffets. If you feel you must suffer, you may even find a Yoga teacher who missed his or her calling as an interrogator.
If you search hard enough, you will find a Yoga class for every niche. More moderate Yoga classes look easy on the outside of the class, but I have seen many people find them to be a challenge, on the inside of the class. The real benefit of steady Yoga practice is training for longevity. Long-term practice will yield optimum health benefits in mind, body, and spirit.
Couldn’t you just invent a Yoga pill?
This has been the ultimate dream of “couch potatoes,” but every time a weight loss pill comes out, there is a down side. Just look at the health problems that resulted from fen phen and ephedra. This should wake people up, but someone will always put their life at risk, no matter how many warning labels are printed.
In summary, the benefits of Yoga practice have always existed, through steady and safe practice. Seek out a safe teacher and go from there. Never push yourself to the point of strain. Moderation is key, so it is wise to avoid extremes.

In this article I’ll explain how to make your guitar squeal with
Pinch Harmonics.
A lot of guitarists have trouble learning how to do these, but
it’s really a simple technique.
I’m going to touch on all types of harmonics in an effort to
explain how Pinch Harmonics work when your playing the guitar.
If your like me you like to add a little expression when playing
your guitar, by adding some harmonics and pinch harmonics.
To get this started we’re going to go into a little detail
about how the guitar strings actually work. Now I’m not going to
be all technical, as that’s not who I am :o) Basically the
guitar string vibrates between the nut and the bridge. If you
look closely you can see the string vibrating like a sine wave.
Natural harmonics happen at the spaces along the string where
the “wave” stops and starts a new one. (Not technically correct
but makes sense to me this way). This normally happens just
above the 5th fret, the 7th fret, and the 12th fret wires. If
you take a minute in a well lit room you can see the spots where
the vibration along the string actually seems to be stopped.
When you lightly touch a ringing string on these points you will
get a natural harmonic chime.
Tap harmonics are simply fretting a string and moving the
natural harmonic spot up accordingly. For example: If you fret
the Low E String at the 3rd fret and pluck the string, your
“natural harmonics” would no longer be at the 5th, 7th, and 12th
frets. You would Tap the string above the 8th, 10th, and 15th
fret wire to sound the harmonic. Hence the name….Tap Harmonic.
Now..to the meat of this…the all powerful Pinch Harmonic!! I
say all powerful just because I love the extra expression and
sound you can get from them.
To do a Pinch Harmonic you basically “Pinch” the string between
your Pick and the side of your thumb that’s holding the pick.
This is the way I do them and have had excellent luck with this
technique.
When you strike the string you let your thumb sound the
harmonic you want. It takes a bit of trial and error to find the
right areas above the pickups that sound the harmonics you want,
but only a little. The best way to learn the placement is to
crank up your distortion (easier to sound them), and on put your
fret hand on the Low E or A String on the 5th or 7th fret as if
you were playing A note or D note. Start with your pick in about
the middle of the Neck and Bridge pickups and “Pinch” the string
so that when your pick sounds it your thumb immediately touches
the string. This should sound a Pinch Harmonic. The motion is
similar to turning the ignition in a car, just not as
drastic…it’s a slight “Turn” or “Pinch” on the string.
You may have to move your hand slightly higher or lower on the
string to find the “sweet spots”. Keep trying different areas
until you get it just right.
Once you’ve found the spots that give the sounds you want, make
a mental note of where they are. When you move your fret hand
higher or lower on the neck…the places you can hit the
harmonics will move slightly. This falls in line with the way a
Tap Harmonic works, so keep that in mind.
Keep practicing finding the “Sweet Spot” until you can do it
each time you try. This part does take a little time and
practice.
Just as a note: When you change to a different guitar, be
prepared to relearn where the Pinch Harmonics sound. Every
guitar I’ve played on has them in slightly different places.
Differences in neck length, bridge placement, manufacturing
tolerances all come into play.
So, that’s all there is to it…Keep practicing till you get the
feel for it, try adding bends and sound another one, you’ll make
that guitar scream like a wounded banshee in no time.
If you want to really increase your skill with Pinch harmonics
after you get the feel for them, try practicing them with a
clean sound. They can still be sounded and your accuracy will
increase exponentially!!

You love the movies, so why not look at stopping by our capital and witness several of the places from the film? The city inspired lots of truly celebrated films and presently, for over ten decades, has welcomed in heavyweight film people to make their motion pictures in. The capital is one of the planet’s best known & coolest filming metropoles. There exist central hotspots for filming within the city; several of the most recognisable locations have been used multiple times. Several of the coolest film producers, from past and present, are from the capital. Brilliant pictures were set in the capital and they tend to receive good critical reviews.
Our capital is known as the 3rd busiest production centre on the planet. After the City of Angles & also NY, Westminster claims to be the leading spot with more than 2200 filming days for 2005. In addition to the city’s movies there is also London’s festivals. These take place each year on approximately the same date. They’re very distinctive, which means there is a festival for all of us. There’s over 60 movie festivals around this metropolis & these festivals epitomize every one of the capital’s separate multicultural mixes. Such festivals in London range from documentaries to African, animation to conspiracy theories and of course their catalogue constantly increases in size.
Up there with the most appealing considerations relating to London’s movie arena, are the film houses themselves. Joined with the rotten pits are first-rate cinemas that will certainly help you lose yourself in the flick. London contains more than five hundred cinemas, which range from top notch big screens, including the Odeon and Vue, that play the very latest films and hits, over to the small scale cinemas that are intimate & also regularly put on older and more cultured flicks, often shows that could not be brought out at high street cinemas.
There are also silver screens these days which provide a totally different experience from the traditional silver screens. You are able to relish in your flick in the snugness of your sofa or maybe armchair; you also get to buy bites to eat from the waiters. There there are one or two of these places throughout the town. London’s Roxy Bar & Screen is thought to be a pleasing choice which is located in the area of the famous Borough Market. The enterprise is a union of indie cinema, a delightful bar and a restaurant. London’s Eclectic Cinema located in the Notting Hill district has been operating for years and performs a fusion of artistic movies and also the very best films of the average theatres. Together with comfy leather seating, its foot stools and don’t forget its bar area situated in the very back, you’re going to like seeing absolutely any picture. Rex Cinema can be found in Soho of our capital and is presently advertised as one of the very best cinemas to check out. Considering its cosiness and their cocktails to rejoice in, this movie theatre is thought to be a venue you’ll have to stop at.
It’s invariably bound to be burdensome, deciding what to watch at the the big screen, all the same, the contentment of a lovely backdrop consistently enhances the night. Reviews on London Film festivals film at Time Out.

It’s possible that advances in the Windows Mobile OS are somewhat dependent on the gaming community.
We certainly have a few innovations that warrant a robust, stable OS capable of high-level API coding to partake of the best of the Pocket PC gaming realm.
The desktop PC owes a debt of gratitude to gamers. Unless, of course, you think that the user base was doing nothing else but playing with their MS Office apps on a routine basis.
The large drive towards hardware and processing power innovation is driven by folks largely like myself.
Video card manufacturers like ATI and nVidia have been posting record sales of high-end 3D hardware acceleration cards for years, with desktop PC gamers more than willing to pony up over $600 CDN on the next massively multipipelined hardware behemoth.
The Windows Mobile world can hardly be called a parallel gaming universe.
A lot of frustration has been thrown Microsoft’s way, largely because of recent developments. The hx4700 is a case in point.
Hewlett Packard’s only VGA display handheld was hampered by a revelation: no Windows Mobile 5.0 upgrade could be issued for this device until the following spring.
You’ll find more details on the Brighthand.com site regarding this upgrade insight.
Problem is, the mettle of the hardcore Pocket PC game community is lacking. A recent poll off of the IPaqHQ forum site revealed that only just over five percent have opted for a Pocket PC with Windows Mobile 5.
The greater majority is still on WM 2003 Second Edition. The Pocket PC game community has spoken, and by and large they are satisfied with the game power harnessed by devices utilizing this brand of operating system.
The Windows Mobile Team Blog entry was an epiphany of sorts. Mike Calligaro’s Windows Mobile article blog spoke to issues concerning disparaging Micro$oft detractors who insist on transposing those dollar signs in the middle of the company name.
His formula is as follows:
(Total cost of doing the upgrade) / (number of people who will use it) = (unreasonable price)
In essence, he attributes our PDA gaming community upgrade woes to diseconomies of scale, not greed.
I agree with Mike’s view because the dearth of hardware accelerated Pocket PC games speaks volumes.
The newer accelerated titles like GeoRally EX are less prevalent than new software rendered 3D titles like FFRace - Fast Future Race.
Even more revealing the former is targeted once again towards Axim x50v owners. If that in itself doesn’t reek of a lack of PDA hardware compliancy, I don’t know what does.
I’ve dubbed this the PlayStation 2 syndrome: just like the popular gaming console, Pocket PC game developers are catching on to making the most of the programming libraries at hand and producing top-notch games that can be used from Pocket PC 2002 onwards.
With such a broad compatibility demographic, I’ve already seen it; Pocket PC game production is issuing better games for common operating systems and is possible nearing its zenith for quality.
If things continue like this it will certainly put a crimp on our future Windows Mobile upgrades.

A few weekends back, the Brobdingnagian Bards performed at the Austin Celtic Festival. We shared the stage with some amazing bands, but at the very top of my list were The Rogues.
We first met The Rogues last year at the Texas Renaissance Festival. Since then I’ve been a big fan of not only their killer bagpipes and drums, but their phenomenal ability to sell CDs. They work magic on and off stage and sell tons of CDs.
What do they do that is so special?
Well, The Rogues are very proactive when it comes to selling. While many bands will setup a table and say, “go to our table and buy our CDs”, The Rogues take it a step further. They send their sales ladies to their fans.
I remember at the Kansas City Renaissance Festival when they played the Pub Sing. They began playing music. Their Sales Ladies danced to the music. Then they picked up their baskets of CDs, grabbed a couple, held them high, while The Rogues invited the audience to, “Go buy our CDs.” Then the lasses walked through the aisles through the rest of the entire performance.
While the rest of us were on stage watching with shocked amazement at our own untouched sales table, The Rogues sold a dozen CDs! They repeated that performance at the Austin Celtic Festival.
We shared a booth with The Rogues at the festival, and I asked Sharon about how they do it. She told me it varies in different parts of the country. In Texas, this direct approach works magic. In Florida, an older recreational audience gets angry if sales people disturb their show. But the key is to realize that your sales team is a PART of the show!
They don’t just stand up there silently holding up CDs. If they do, they disappear. We learned that during our first show this weekend. Integrate your sales people into your show. Get them to dance in the isles, clap their hands, sing-a-long. If they do, the audience will follow their lead. This will help them to attract attention to the CDs, and you will sell more.
Be proactive. Don’t wait for your fans to come to you, or they may never! If you go to them, you’ll sell more CDs, and make more fans in the process.

All of us have an occasional bad day. However, there are two fundamental reasons a relationship [business or personal] gets chronically out of synch.
The first is Vision and the second is Values.
A real life example…
Anne and Jason work together. For a time the partnership seems to be a match made in heaven. Jason is out developing new prospects while Anne uses her skills to compile powerful proposals that Jason closes almost every time. Their production has soared over the past six months, but Anne is unhappy!
What happened?…
Anne is feeling more and more like an assistant instead of a partner. After some probing Jason admits that he prefers working solo with a dynamite assistant [how he increasingly views Anne] to support him.
The long and the short of it is, Anne and Jason’s Vision & Values are not in synch - if only they’d known this earlier!
To be a little more specific…
Vision includes hopes, dreams and long-term objectives [again, this applies to business and personal relationships equally.] We all have a vision even if at a very covert, unspoken level.
Values includes basic principles, norms, standards and ethics an individual lives by, both consciously and unconsciously.
To be in synch a partnership must have…
1. A common, well defined vision [long-term goals] that guides monthly, weekly, and daily planning and activities.
2. A compatible set of values [ethics, standards and principles] that all on the team live by day by day, week in and week out.
It is absolutely critical…
to identify where you and your partner stand with regards to both your vision and your values to assure a solid, productive and fun business or life partnership. This is the number one cause it seems for partnership failure.
CHALLENGE…
- Sit down this week and review your personal goals and standards
- Call a meeting with your partner to address your partnership’s goals and standards.
Remember, Life is short figure it out and enjoy!
