Have You Hugged a Customer Today?

Posted by admin on 31 May 2008 | Tagged as: Commerce Marketing

It all started a couple of weeks ago when a friend asked me if I could scan and print some of her slides. No problem, I said.

Boy, was I mistaken….

As it turns out, I seldom use my scanner for slides. And no matter how many different ‘Kathy’ techniques I tried to get it to work, nothing. I even resorted to reading the online manual (what was I thinking?). Still didn’t work.

After several (okay, many!) bull-headed attempts to figure it out myself, I called the Epson tech help line.

The good news, they actually answered the phone near midnight. The bad news? My scanner was out of warranty, so I’d have to pay $9.95 for their tech service.

I was pretty desperate, so $9.95 seemed a bargain. And indeed, I got the help I needed. I was, once again, a happy pup.

Didn’t think about it again until the telemarketer called today….

1 - Good For Me

Before the call, I had virtually no attention on Epson, my scanner, or the slides that are now beautifully printed.

And I must say, when I answered the phone and heard, “Is this Kathleen?” (my first clue that it’s not a friend calling!), I was a little annoyed.

For whatever reason, I didn’t hang up. And I answered all the rep’s questions about my experience with the Epson tech guys.

I was reminded that I didn’t call just once, but twice - when I had some follow-up questions a few days later.

The call reminded me how great it was to be able to access their tech support 24 hours a day. (Is it just me, or do you, too, find that everything breaks down in the middle of the night?)

And the quick survey made me think back to the beautifully printed artwork that I scanned from my friend’s slides.

Gotta say, I felt really good when I hung up the phone!

2 - Good For Them

What’s in it for Epson?

Well, if even half of their calls today end in another smiling customer like me, they’re doing great!

They’re also getting valuable feedback that can help them improve their tech support, and their products.

Who knows if the two tech guys I spoke with last week were one “5″ on the survey away from getting fired, or getting a promotion? I’d like to think that my positive feedback helped them personally, in some small way.

It’s a win-win situation. And I like that.

3 - Make a Habit of Hugging Your Customers

Yes, I could have emailed Epson and told them how helpful their tech guys were. But I didn’t.

Which got me thinking….

How often do we actually take the time to “hug” our customers and supporters?

We might:

- call someone who’s just bought one of our products, and thank them for their purchase

- call a participant the week after our teleclass to see if they have any questions

- write a quick thank-you note to someone who’s been supporting us

- thank someone, in writing, for their help with a project

- write to thank someone for coming to live workshop

- surprise an especially good customer with a small gift (free RealAudio download of a teleclass, for example)

- ask our best customers for feedback about our product, or our service

- take the time to be grateful, and find ways to let people know about it!

Thanking our customers isn’t just good for the soul. It’s good business.

I’ll be hugging lots more often - and more deliberately - in the future. I hope you’ll join me.

Interactive Charts are Reinventing Visual Data

Posted by admin on 30 May 2008 | Tagged as: Web Of Technology

Interactive charts have revolutionized the way visual data is displayed. Think back to elementary school geography class, sitting drowsily in your desk as the teacher pulls down her roll-up world maps and charts to review the 50 states and their capitals. Visual improvements have been made over the past few years to improve those maps and charts. Most maps and charts now are divided into topographical, population, climate, economic resources, physical, political, and road maps, color coded for the viewer’s convenience. There are probably even more, but that has been the extent of interactive charts for several years.

But imagine combining all of those maps and charts into one report, and all a user has to do is drag the mouse over a state or a country and all of the information you would have to display several maps to show is centralized in one display of interactive charts. It is called interactive charts, because it works in partnership with the user to provide all of the information for which he or she may be searching.

Interactive charts are not simply tools that can be used to display geographical information to elementary school children. Interactive charts represent a new way of providing complex information in a simple and effective visual display, interacting with all groups of people in every type of setting.

Several months ago, I was researching the city of Cochin, in India for travel. As I pulled up interactive charts, I dragged my mouse across areas of the maps and charts and was presented with specific information about the area. Later, as I was booking plane tickets, interactive charts of the interior of the plane allowed me to choose my coveted window seat. I could not help but think of the possibilities.

Having been involved in many marketing presentations, I know first-hand the difficulties of presenting a complex set of information about demographics, tendencies, and research results without interactive charts. I found the use of graphs, maps, and charts very helpful, but when it came to presenting a comparison of information in various categories I was stuck. “These graphs are complex enough” I thought. “How can I possibly combine all of this information?” I wish I would have known then about the software used to create interactive charts of India or the airplane.

Many warehouses already use maps that identify stock storage throughout the warehouse. Interactive charts could take that a step further to show the stock level, incoming shipments, outgoing shipments, where they came from, where they were going, the times stock came in and on which truck, and the times stock was shipped out and on what truck. The difficult task of tracking multiple variables has now been consolidated onto one simple, real-time display with interactive charts.

The charts, diagrams, maps, and other visual displays I used to stress about in presentations can now be organized in such a way that if I wanted to track all of the activities on all levels of an organization-this could include sales, inventory, admin, marketing, R and D, and anything else-I could create a chart, diagram, or map which displays real-time progress with interactive charts. When I want to follow up, all I need to do is drag my mouse over the area or areas of the company that I need to survey. I could even calculate and compare department productivity.

When it is time to come home and review my stock portfolio, I can grab my laptop and pull up the interactive charts displaying the progress of my stocks throughout the day. If I am really curious I could then check out statistics on the snow levels at my favorite ski resorts or the liver cancer rate in Utah. With interactive charts, information is available as fast as the imagination can ask for it.

Balding Cure - Buy Propecia?

Posted by admin on 30 May 2008 | Tagged as: Cosmetics

Balding Cure? The most common form of hair loss is male pattern hair loss, accounting for 95% of all cases of baldness. Approximately 50% of all men will start balding by the time they reach the age of 50 so it really is a very common problem. Previously the only solution male pattern and other types of hair loss have been wigs or hats but all these do is cover it up. There have always been miracle creams and shampoos available that claim to replace lost hair and charge a lot of money for the privilege but most men who try them end up disappointed because they simply didn’t have the expected or desired results. Generic Propecia is a proven balding cure and is available from your doctor or, more conveniently, over the Internet.

You will more than likely be familiar with male pattern hair loss. It starts with balding around the crown of the head or with a receding hairline and progresses from there. It is widely accepted amongst doctors and scientists that DHT (dihydrotestosterone) is partially responsible for the balding process. DHT is a chemical that diminishes the hair follicle to such a size that it can no longer be seen.

Finding a proven balding cure that stood up to proper and rigorous testing had proven difficult until Propecia was discovered. Propecia and generic Propecia work by lowering the amount of DHT that is found within your body. Not only does this prevent further balding but it also helps the existing hair follicles to re-grow much stronger effectively making it a balding cure. Generic Propecia has shown excellent results in tests and approximately 70% of men who have undergone clinical trials with generic Propecia have found that there has grown back. This is a fact that was tested by dermatologists and scientific researchers to verify the results.

Generic Propecia can start having noticeable results in as little as 3 months, although if your hair loss is showing no signs of improvement after 12 months then further treatment is unlikely to yield the result you require. If you stop taking generic Propecia after results begin to show then the advantages and the improvement you have gained will deteriorate and leave you balding once again. For this reason, you need to be able to find a cheap but reliable source of Propecia. Your physician can prescribe you Propecia but this is not a cheap option, and there are cheaper options available to you.

Generic Propecia is a drug that is identical to Propecia but is available at a fraction of the cost and in larger bulk. Online generic pharmacys can supply you with generic Propecia and if you do not already have a prescription then they can also complete an online consultation with you and give you the prescription you require. This is much more convenient than visiting your physician and you will know if you are going bald or not. Generic pharmacys are not meant to replace regular visits to your physician but in certain circumstances they provide a very good alternative.

As far as a balding cure goes nothing has been proven to work as well as Propecia for either stopping the balding process or helping the re-growth of your lost hair. In the long run it is quite possible to redevelop a full head of hair through the regular use of Propecia. If you are interested then you should consider going using a generic pharmacy and purchasing generic Propecia. It has the same results but at a fraction of the total cost.

Discount Bedroom Furniture Set Buying Guide

Posted by admin on 30 May 2008 | Tagged as: School of Home Improvement

You don’t want to break the bank buying bedroom furniture. But you don’t want to break the bed because you bought cheap. You don’t have to sacrifice quality for affordability, or affordability for quality. But you do have to keep your eyes open and your expectations realistic. There are plenty of furniture manufacturers that will be more than happy to part a furniture fool from his money.

Why Bedroom Furniture Craftsmanship Is So Important

Why does bedroom furniture so often seem to give out before the rest of the room’s furniture? Because it’s usually used more frequently and more heavily than any other furniture in the house.

Guaranteed frequent use.

For many people, bedroom furniture will get used more consistently than any other room’s furniture. Even if you spend all day at work and never turn on your TV, you’ll still begin and end the day in bed.

Heavy use.

No one is a gentle creature in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning.

Toss and turn in bed? Better hope your bed joints can take it.

Who remembers to use a coaster for a glass of water in the middle of the night? If your nightstand’s finish is just sprayed on rather than a genuine varnish, you can expect that water glass to leave some pretty nasty scars.

Your nightstand will get a good rattle when you hit the “snooze” button. If the pieces are just loosely bolted together, there’ll be some damage within a few years.

Your bureau drawers will be yanked open and slammed shut. If the drawers are sliding on metal rather than plastic runners, you might just yank the drawer and pull it right out.

Of course, you could treat the furniture delicately. If that’s even possible to do when you’re tired, it would be a great way to bring a lot of stress into the room.

Considering that you may spend a third of your life in the bedroom, why not make it nice?

Judging Quality Discount Bedroom Furniture

You can find both good and bad furniture at just about any furniture store. Furniture stores tend to be a bit like car dealerships that way. But some stores can be worse than others.

In particular, be wary of any of the new bedroom furniture lines being sold by discount department stores. Kmart and Target, in particular, have moved into the furniture business with mixed results. According to a recent New York Times article, when a professional furniture craftsman checked out the “designer” pieces at Target, he found a lot of reason to believe the furniture wouldn’t last. The biggest cause for alarm: parts that were bolted together without also being glued.

When parts are only bolted together, they will inevitably start wiggling just a bit. As time goes on, the wiggling will pull the bolts loose. Then one day when you slam the “snooze” button, the nightstand will go crashing down beneath it.

Materials are of course as important as workmanship–at least when it comes to price. Everyone knows that hardwood costs more than particle board. But not everyone can spot particle board right away. What does “oaken” mean? Just because something looks like oak, doesn’t mean it’s oak.

If every inch of surface is covered in some kind of veneer, check the materials label on the furniture’s tag. Every piece of furniture you buy should have some kind of label like this. If you’re buying online, the website’s description of the piece should say what the materials are. If not, take your business elsewhere.

Want a shortcut for finding well-made discount bedroom furniture? Try looking for furniture from a respected design company. An Ethan Allen table sold in one store should be roughly as good as an Ethan Allen table sold in another. Of course, these brands are expensive. You can cut down on cost by comparison shopping online just as you would for electronics or cars. You can even buy the furniture online and have it delivered to your house, the same as from an offline furniture store.

Wherever you buy your bedroom furniture, just make sure it’s quality. After all, you’ll be spending a third of your life in it.

Do I Have Migraine Headaches?

Posted by admin on 29 May 2008 | Tagged as: Healthy Stuff

If you have headaches and are wondering if they could be
migraine headaches we can probably help you figure that out.
There are some very distinctive characteristics of migraine
headaches that can differentiate migraines from other types of
headaches such as tension headaches, stress headaches, cluster
headaches or other types of headaches.

Migraine headaches are more often than not one-sided, meaning
the pain is felt on only one side of the head. Most of the time
the pain of a migraine headache can be felt in the temple area
or behind one of the eyes or ears. Migraine headaches can become
severe and disabling. Nausea is a common symptom of this type of
headache as is vomiting or sensitivity to light or sound. About
20% of patients with migraine headaches experience an aura. An
aura is a disturbance in vision that can consist of bright
blinking colored lights that move across the field of vision.

Migraine headaches can become chronic in nature. When they are
chronic the patient most commonly experiences them once or twice
a month. However, in some instances migraine headaches can occur
as often as once or twice a week. Migraine headaches affect
people between the ages of 15 and 55 and are more common in
women than in men. Migraines affect women about 3 times as often
as men.

Migraines affect about 30 or 40 million Americans, but they are
less common than tension headaches. It is estimated that about
75% of all headaches are tension headaches. Tension headaches
are typically characterized by a dull pain over the entire head
while migraines are usually throbbing in nature and located in
one particular spot. In other words, tension-type headaches are
a constant dull pain while migraines throb like the beating of
the heart.

Chronic tension headaches can occur every day while chronic
migraine headaches occur less often, usually once a week to once
a month. Fatigue and stress can cause both types of headaches,
but migraine headaches can be triggered by other factors such as
different types of food. Migraine headaches can sometimes be
helped by eliminating these triggers. Foods that may lead to
migraines include cheese, alcohol, MSG (monosodium glutamate),
nuts, beans, caffeine, chocolate, onions and others. Eliminating
the trigger may eliminate the migraines.

Cluster headaches are far less common than either migraine
headaches or tension-type-headaches. Men are about six times
more likely than women to experience cluster headaches. The pain
of a cluster headache starts quickly, without any warning, and
typically reaches its peak between two and fifteen minutes.

The pain of a cluster headache can be extremely intense, deep
and explosive. Migraines are usually “pulsing” while clusters
are not. Between 10 and 20 percent of cluster patients have
“ice-pick” or “stabbing” pain around the eyes. This stabbing
pain typically lasts for a few seconds, but can occur several
times in succession. When this sudden attack of intense pain
occurs it usually means that the headache is near its end.

For natural migraine headache relief it is often beneficial to
relax and rest. Sometimes lying in a dark room with an ice pack
on the base of the skull can reduce the pressure that is felt in
the head. The same treatment can also help tension or stress
headaches. Reducing stress can go a long way to relieving many
headache symptoms.

If you experience chronic headaches and over-the-counter
medication or natural remedies do not help it may be wise to
consult a physician.

Dr. Larry A. Johnson, D.C. has patented a popular chiropractor-recommended headache cushion for the home treatment and relief of tension and migraine headaches. Visit http://www.soothe-a-ciser.com/tension-headaches.html for more information.

Not yet save your dollars - Savings tips for every online entrepreneur should know when seeking prod

Posted by admin on 28 May 2008 | Tagged as: Business

The old saying to shoppers “if you want to save shop around”,
this old fashion phrase is not limited to your traditional
shopping but virtually anything you are willing to pay for. As
fellow entrepreneurs in online business the same applies to you.

Buying a product to resell If you stumble on a product you have
been seeking, don’t rush into buying the first time, chances are:

The product is dated In this situation it a total loss of income
and who wouldn’t be furious? It is wise to enquire how old the
product has been on the market and when was the last time the
product was upgraded. It will also pay to read reviews on the
product before purchasing, this will save you a lot of headaches

Offered free somewhere else Have you ever purchased a product
only to find out that it is available free somewhere else. If
you find yourself in this situation you are no different from
above. It is definitely a loss of income as well. Check on the
internet, do a search on the “Product+Free” and see the results.

Offered as bonus if you buy another product You should always be
on the look out for what I termed a “double score” in this case
search for a product to see if it is being offered as a bonus
some where else with other products. Because of customer
perceived value 99.9% internet software and information products
offer additional bonuses and you are bound to find the product
you are seeking is given away as bonus or bundled with other
products, wow what a win.

What strategies are available? Bargain with the seller Send a
mail or phone to the vendor directly informing that you are
interested in purchasing the product and you are willing to pay
only a stated amount or to the nearest offer you are willing to
pay. 99 out of 100 will reply with an offer. I personally was
looking for a product which was advertised on the internet for
$4,000. I sent a personal email to the vendor stating I wanted
to become a reseller but I was willing to pay only $500, I had a
reply saying $500 was below suppliers cost however they are
willing to take $800. I was able to shake of $3,200 off the
regular price. I was more than a happy customer I knew the
potential earnings of the product was huge.

Check your business opportunity magazines It is often perceived
that people reading business opportunity magazines are more
likely to buy and promote products. You often find that prices
offered in these magazines are much lower than what is offered
online. The prices on online are inflated to ward off curious
people looking for freebies and be able to receive good leads
from interested buyers.

Compare similar products Don’t forget there are competing
products that will equally perform the same function. Look for
the products compare features and how they will benefit your
business.

Add A Splash Of Color To Your Bathroom With A New Shower Curtain!

Posted by admin on 28 May 2008 | Tagged as: School of Home Improvement

If your bathroom is looking a bit tired, but you don’t have the money to spend on refurbishing it, then a simple touch such as adding a new shower curtain could work wonders. If you are on a budget then a shower curtain is an inexpensive way to instantly liven up your bathroom and give it a fresh new look. As well as looking good, a shower curtain is a practical way to prevent water spraying out into the rest of the bathroom and damaging your furnishings.

Shower curtains come all kinds of different designs, so whatever your personal style and the color scheme in your bathroom you are sure to find something that will look great. Many people like to have a specific theme in their bathroom décor and try to find a shower curtain to fit in with this. For example, aquatic and nautical themes are very popular. You can find a wide range of shower curtains along these lines, with images such as dolphins, fish and sailboats in loads of different colors.

In addition to images, there are an enormous variety of different patterns when it comes to shower curtains. All kinds of stripes, polka dots and plaid designs can be found. There is also a fantastic selection of shower curtains designed especially for children, which can be a great addition to bath times.

These days shower curtains can be made from several types of material, most of which can be easily cleaned in a washing machine. Plastic and polyester are widely available. Cotton ones can also be found, but it is worth checking if you will need to buy a separate liner to make sure your curtain is waterproof. Liners can be bought at low prices from the same stores that sell shower curtains. You will also need to have a rod or rail to hang your curtain from. These are easy to install above a bathtub or shower stall. Shower rods and hooks come in a choice of different finishes, so you can find something to match your other bathroom fixtures.

So, if you want to smarten up your bathroom on a budget, sometimes the simplest option, such as a new shower curtain, can be remarkably effective!

Is Colic the Cause of Your Baby’s Discomfort?

Posted by admin on 27 May 2008 | Tagged as: World Of Finance

You have probably heard of colic before and while you may not
know exactly what it means you do know that it is not something
pleasant and that parents who have colicky babies get little
rest. If this is all you know don’t feel bad because doctors
aren’t much more informative when it comes to colic. While many
doctors acknowledge that colic exists that generally say it is
something the baby will outgrow. This does not seem like good
news when your new baby cries non stop and nobody in the house
gets any rest. Colic is frustrating for mom and baby because
there is no clear definition for the condition or a clear course
for treating it, just clear evidence that the baby is in major
pain and there is nothing you can do about it; or is there?

Most doctors will tell you there is no clear treatment, but
there are some remedies that work for colic you just have to
find the right one for your baby. Most of the time colic is
considered the effect of a variety of symptoms coming together
rather than a disease or even a condition. Approximately 15-20%
of all babies will develop colic and cry, groan, grunt, push,
hiccup, have contractions and spasms, and simply look miserable.
Frequently during these fits the baby keeps his body stiff and
nothing mom or dad does helps soothe the baby. Most of the time
colic episodes occur right after feeding and can last for hours
or even until the next feeding. The symptoms are typically
exacerbated in the evening.

No clear evidence pinpoints the reason some babies have colic,
however it is believed to be a combination of a developmental
and digestive issue. Babies are growing so quickly in the first
week of life that their digestive system just can’t keep up and
colic occurs as a result, or so the theory goes. Many parents
and doctors buy into this theory because generally by month four
babies that have had colic have grown out of it. Another theory
is that stress causes colic in babies. Many parents who are
stressed out and tense pass this on to their baby and stress
tends to cause digestive issues frequently causing colic. Also,
some doctors believe food sensitivities and allergies to milk
proteins play a role in colic not to mention temperament. One
theory is that fussy babies have a higher chance of developing
colic than easy going babies do. Obviously, there are quite a
few theories as to what causes colic and it could be any or all
of the above.

There are many reasons why a baby might develop colic and a
variety of remedies parents might seek to help soothe their
pain. For example, massage, herbal tea, chiropractic sessions,
herbal supplements, gas aids, change of formula, and the like
are all possible solutions to your baby’s colic. You simply need
to try all of the remedies in order until you find one that
seems to work for your baby. If you are consistent you will
surely find something that offers comfort and helps you and baby
get some sleep. Also, if you never find a solution to the colic
it is likely your baby will simply outgrow it around month four.

However, if your baby does not get better around four months of
age you should schedule a doctor’s appointment because there
could be some other digestive problem present or something else
that might be causing your baby pain and suffering. So, make
sure you schedule regular appointments with the pediatrician to
ensure your baby is happy and healthy.

How to Hire a Web Designer/Programmer for Your Website

Posted by admin on 27 May 2008 | Tagged as: House Of Websters

Hire a designer or a programmer for your website is a daunting for any business entrepreneur. Remember that you’re the important part of a design process. It is your decision makes the final outcome or success of a website. Your website is a one which works better and sells your products and have good feel for the visitors.

Why hire a designer or a programmer?

You might ask this question yourself when there are 100’s of easy to build software on the internet. But building a website yourself and a professional designer makes a lot of difference. The designer put in years of expertise in building your website. He knows all the web standards as well as a professional look after it is done. Apart from that business owners don’t find time and patience in maintaining and promoting the site. Since the business person is occupied with this own business needs.
What are the important aspects while choosing a website designer/programmer?

1) Check the credentials of the designer, is he reliable or will the designer will leave half way of your project. Check with the designer previous employer or clients. They could give you a good feedback on it.

2) Choose the designer carefully going through the previous work or portfolio. Don’t go ahead with the designer unless seen the designer portfolio. Viewing the portfolio you will get an idea what kind of quality and professionalism you can expect from him.

3) Next step after you are satisfied with the designer is asking for a proposal from him. Ask the designer is there any kind of terms and conditions before starting the project. If so make sure does that work for you too. Some designer may ask for a upfront for the project usually it is 25-40% of the entire cost of the project. Ask the designer what mode of payment he would prefer.

4) Once the terms and conditions are fixed then go ahead and ask for a prototype of the website.

5) Once the designer comes up with the prototype ask for revision unless you get satisfied and think this is what you where looking for.

6) Finalize the website and go ahead upload on to the server.

Follow these steps and increase your chances of successfully hiring a web designer/ web programmer who meets your needs and those of your project.
