Digital music provider Spotify has recently signed a deal with UK’s mobile operator 3. The deal will allow 3’s mobile handset users easy access to Spotify’s music library at an yet-to-be-determined tariff.

This deal will significantly increase Spotify’s reach in the market. As of now, the music service is available to regular internet users and music lovers on specific invite only. Invitees enjoy legal and safe access to Spotify’s store of music collections. The response to the service has been quite encouraging, which is why Spotify now aims to expand its user base by making the service available to mobile users.

This new deal is expected to open up a new channel for expansion and will allow Spotify to reach remote corners of the country. To begin with, Spotify will offer its premium service on the handsets.

3 will inaugurate the service with its launch of the HTC Hero handset, which will hit the markets in December this year. The service will incorporated into other models as a follow up to this. With this deal, the mobile operator has entered a tie up for a second time to make music available on its handsets. The first tie up with Nokia’s ‘Comes with Music’ was launched around this time last year.
