Posted by admin on 16 Feb 2010 | Tagged as: Fun On The Net, Online Gambling, Web Of Games

There are certain poker player moves that instantly mark someone as a beginner at the casino. One of the easiest to spot moves is the beginner tendency to hold on to their hand when circumstances say that they should just let it go. This happens when a brand new player has read far too guidebooks and online forums. They read on these sources that certain pairs will guarantee them a win. I can assure you that if a true beginner is hand one of these pairs; they will not part with them easily. The beginners would rather see these cards to the bitter end than admit that the odds are not working in their favor at the moment.

This tendency to hold on to a hand marks a beginner. If you want to show that you have had slightly more practice than your average fish, then you need to learn how to let your cards go. This will show the other poker players that you actually know how to play the game instead of just reading a guidebook. This is an easy move to avoid once you are aware of how it works. Exercise and Poker

I know this isn’t what a lot of you might want to be hearing, but there’s a great affinity, I believe, in the spirit of online poker, and the spirit of exercise. Particularly, in my case, running, as I tend to keep a pretty regular schedule of 3.5 miles a day, but the gamut could be opened up to all sorts of other cardiovascular exercising, or even anaerobic events like regularly lifting weights.

In these acts, there is a careful balance between work and patience. There is a pacing, an endurance, melded with the moment of the push. A lot of the times in running you can work yourself into a zone where the hours passing don’t even seem hours, though the forward motion continues just the same. By attenuating your stride to that in between period, the building of it, you can create better results in discipline, and impact on your overall online poker skill.

Poker is like this in that at the table the time can seem nonexistent. There is a lot of auto-pilot in the folding, the waiting, the pressing on. Maintaining a similar balance as on the track, where you are constantly aware of your modes of shifting, the overall flow of motion more than the mechanics of the act, you can get into the zone, too, and find yourself moving upward, lifting toward the ultimate prize. Remember this when you play poker online.

Online Ergonomics

Online poker can be addictive with players often logging hours and hours in front of their computer screens. Obviously, spending so much time playing online poker can be dangerous to wallet as well as your social life. It also presents specific threats to your physical health that can be avoided with a little forethought and preventative action.

First of all, make sure you stay nourished and hydrated. If you’re the type who can play for hours without getting up, then keep healthy snacks and drinks on hand. Hunger and dehydration will interfere with your thinking and can cause you to go on tilt.

Beyond basic food and hydration, you have to think about your chair and proper positioning of your equipment to avoid repetitive strain injuries and poor posture which can lead to back pain. Your chair should supply both upper and lower back support, and the height should be adjustable. You should sit up straight with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Continual slouching in your chair can lead to chronic back problems so don’t fall into this sloppy habit.

You arm should be bent at a 90 degree angle at the elbow so your forearm is pointed fairly straight on the mouse. The screen should be at eye level. If you have to look up or down, you are going to strain your neck and eyes.

Most importantly, get up and take breaks at least every two hours. Stand up, roll your shoulders, move about a bit to shake off stiffness. If you are going to play online poker for hours at a time, then these simple precautions can save you a lot of misery down the line at the casino.

Five Situations to Consider when Bluffing

First, who are you playing. Do you know the poker online opponent. Some opponents are easier to bluff than others. You should take this into account Second, How strong do you think your poker online opponent’s hand is? If he’s been betting strong do you think it’s wise to bluff him? Is he known to slow roll a monster, you may not want to bluff if you’ve seen him do this line before. Third, What kind of read do you have on his online poker hand representation in comparison to the board. If there’s an A out there and he’s betting like he has a strong Ace, it may not be best to bluff on the board. But if he’s been representing a drawing hand, you may well win with a bluff. Fourth, Has your opponent taken to Calling Station mode. If he just lost a hand and is just calling, it may be a lot harder to bluff him since he’s trying to catch just by calling. These situations are best checked and folded to instead of bluffed. Fifth, If you’ve been following up to this point you’ve already read his hand and know what he’s representing, Now you need to ask yourself. “What are his chances of winning without a bluff. For instance you have A high and he was chasing a straight with JQ and neither came and the straight missed.

Opponents Who Play a Lot of Hands

One of the most important things to look for in a online poker player with whom you’re not familiar is how frequently he plays his hole cards. It’s pretty much the easiest read that you’ll make on an online poker opponent and it tells you a whole lot about what kind of cards he plays. When you come to an unfamiliar table, take the first few hands off and watch your poker opponents, keeping an eye on which players play the most hands.

Take note of which players play more frequently, because these guys are likely to play loose poker, and if you know how to take advantage of it, they’ll end up making you some money. If they’re playing lots of hands, the odds are that a good percentage of the starting hands they’re playing are mediocre at best. Once you find an opponent who plays a lot of hands, keep an eye on him when the flop comes out. If he’s playing less than premium hands, then it’s likely that he missed the flop. Even if you didn’t hit it, he might be susceptible to a bluff, so try to get a feel for his post-flop mood, because you might have a good opportunity to buy the pot.

Leap into Pots

If you are thinking about playing a hand of poker, you should also be thinking about raising with that hand. Whenever you decide to go into a hand at the casino, you need to try to get the upper hand. When you enter the pot with a big raise, you put everyone else around you on the defensive. When faced with a big raise, your opponents will be forced to re-evaluate their own hands and you’ll have them worrying about what you may have. If you’ve got a good starting online poker hand like pocket Queens, don’t just limp into the pot-leap into it with authority. Raising the blind will chase out the smaller hands, and it’ll give you a good psychological advantage over the other players at the table. Raising before the flop will have your opponents wondering what monster hand you’ve got. If you merely limp into the hand, the other players will suppose that you’ve got a weaker hand, and if the flop helps them at all, they won’t hesitate to chase you out of the pot. If you raise pre-flop however, even if your opponents pull off a decent pair or make a drawing hand on the flop, you have an edge, because all they know is that you’ve got a hand that you like.

Poker Slang: Wake up a Hand

Posted by admin on 30 Oct 2008 | Tagged as: Fun On The Net, Online Gambling, Web Of Games

In poker, a player is said to ‘wake up with a hand’ when there is a great amount of action before him in the pot and he ends up looking down to find a monster. Since there are a great many more poker hands that are not worth playing vs. those considered ‘quality hands,’ players often assume that in most hands the blinds and later players will find a hand not worth playing for a lot of raising.

It is also a general rule that with a raise and a reraise in front of you, the value of the hands you pick up goes way down (being that your opponents have shown extreme strength before them), so that when a player does enter the pot after significant action, they are usually given credit for a very big hand.

The idea of ‘waking up with a hand’ comes from the idea that the players before them are making moves and trying to finagle the pot, and then this player, without any other aspect besides getting lucky and picking up AA or KK etc., then gets to come into the pot very strong. Personally, I’ve always found the ‘wake up with a hand’ statement a little ridiculous, in that it is the essence of poker’s nature that all players are given that possibility. Many online poker players seem to have a bit of a sneer about those that ‘wake up with the hand,’ but in the end, it is the nature of the game, and nothing can be done.

MTT versus Sit and Go Tournaments

Posted by admin on 25 Sep 2008 | Tagged as: Fun On The Net, Online Gambling, Web Of Games

There are two major kinds of online poker tournaments in the online sector: multi-table tournaments (known as MTTs) and Sit N Gos (known mostly as one table setups that begin regularly and end more quickly). Obviously, though both poker tournaments operate on the same kind of games, there are some pretty major differences in the two types of tournaments that certain players may find they find preferences in one over the other.

Sit n go’s are one of the most popular kinds of online poker tournaments mainly for their ease of play. There are new tables starting literally every few minutes. In general, at a table of nine, the top three players will be paid, so this makes the odds of making the money pretty good for most average solid players. A typical nine handed tournament lasts often right around an hour, though they can stretch longer or end even faster if the table is of a certain breed. Often these are good when you don’t have a ton of time to kill, and instead want to play against a small group where the odds of cashing are higher, but the payouts are less.

Multi-table tournaments have been the big testing ground and name-making area for most poker pros. If you want to make a splash in the internet poker scene, this is the place to do it, as those who start showing up regularly in the winner’s circle begin to demand attention. Depending on the size of the field, MTTs can last from a couple hours to many several, so more of a time commitment is involved, but if you go deep into the tournament you are looking at a much larger payout than in the shorter handed games.

Overall, it’s a question of time commitment and how you think you’ll stand up, but both tournaments are great grounds for not only winning money, but enhancing skill.

The Sugar Glider Dance

Posted by admin on 04 Aug 2008 | Tagged as: Animal Fun, Fun On The Net

While both males and females make great sugar glider pets, one aspect of the male sugar glider makes it an amusing and fun addition to the family unitthe sugar glider dance. Male sugar gliders do a unique and funny little dance that is actually part of their mating ritual. They will wiggle their butts and pop around while rubbing their belly on you as they do and provide a great deal of fun and laughter for yourself and friends and family.

There are some videos available online spotlighting this adorable little dance done by the male sugar glider but it is best experienced in person. You will have fun playing music to your little sugar glider’s ‘moves’ and dancing along with his beat. The actual dance is a part of marking his territory too, you that is. They rub their scent on you and make you theirs. While this sounds unappealing it really won’t make any smell to you. You won’t even realize that’s what is going on. The sugar glider has an extremely well developed sense of smell. It is how they associate with each other in the wild and they can smell a familiar sugar glider, or, in this case you, from quite a distance. You will not be able to smell a thing.

This scent association is an important aspect in how a sugar glider bonds with its human. You are theirs and they will know you from the neighbor across the street, and even other family members. While they will love and bond with a wide variety of humans, you will be their primary focus of attention at all times and they will know who you are even from across the room or down the hall. So be prepared to be amused, and be owned by this loving and curious new addition to your family.
