What to Know if You Cannot View Clearly

Posted by admin on 09 Feb 2010 | Tagged as: Cosmetics, Medical Resources, Self Improvement Parlor

The word near sightedness or myopia refers to the issue when you can’t see far into the distance. Of many of the people you are aware with spectacles, it is likely that the majority of have this problem Essentially, the difficulty in this condition is that the eyeball is just too lengthy to allow the light from a distant object to become focussed into view, quickly enough by the eye’s cornea and lens system. Therefore there is a blurry feel to the image that is certainly relayed onto the back of the retina. The eyeball is too long compared with the focusing power of the cornea and lens. This means light rays from objects in the distance are focused in front of the retina because they’ve been bent too much by the cornea and lens. You often find that children become naughty or look at things with screwed up eyes to try to see the teacher better in class, when really the problem is that they have near sightedness. The individuals most in all likelihood to grow brief sightedness are those who have other persons in their family using the same problem. If they get it, they are most probably to get it when these are young children or young adults. It is unusual to create the issue as an older adult.Recent research has indicated that viewing too much television may well make the short-sightedness condition worse, although at this stage there has been no evidence to suggest this is the case.

So, what are your options are curing short sightedness? Short sightedness can be corrected with a concave lens that makes the light rays diverge and focus accurately on the retina. Sometimes, laser surgery can reshape the cornea.Alternatively, you could buy some spectacles to solve the problem.

How to Stay Debt Free with a Personal Budget

Posted by admin on 29 Nov 2009 | Tagged as: Self Improvement Parlor, World Of Finance

If you are reading this, you’re most likely having slight financial stress and looking for a way to gain control of your finances. Formulating and sticking to a monthly budget has always been one of the best ways to do this. A sound budget is a fundamental tool for managing money, one that has allowed me to get on with my day to day life even on limited funds. One of the most important things that I do every month is outlining my monthly budget, this has allowed me to consistently meet all expenses, grow my savings, and eliminate debt.

I usually organise my budget for the coming month on about the 20th of the current month. That gives me a heads up about what’s down the road. It’s not a good idea to prepare a budget after getting paid because, too often, that flush feeling of getting a paycheck results to unessential and impulsive spending before the paycheck ever reaches the bank.

I start my personal budget by outlining all the expenses that must be paid on time like, loan repayments, utility bills, insurance policy payments and auto loans. These are the things I have pay to keep a adequate roof over my head and continue earning money. I like to pad these requirements to produce “money back” after paying the bills and, if costs increase circumstantially, I’m always covered.

Next, my budget is subjected to a list of discretionary things I need to cover but could live without if absolutely unavoidable. For example, donations, credit card repayments and monthly sving deposits. Don’t get me wrong, some of these things are also necessary, but in case of emergency they can be excluded. By paying credit card companies the maximum instead of the minimum, I keep my credit score high and my debt low.

My budget does not include the cost of living such as food and entertainment. These items get covered by what’s left over and that’s that. Some months involve lots of beans and rice, slow-cooker meals, free or cheap entertainment, and only one inexpensive piece of clothing . This strategy of overseeing my monthly budget has worked out very well over the long term as long as I honor it scrupulously.

All about Hypnosis and Movies

Posted by admin on 20 Nov 2009 | Tagged as: Better Psychology, Self Improvement Parlor, World Of Entertainment

Hypnotism has always managed to gain popularity. This art form is world famous and almost everyone on this planet is aware of its advantages and disadvantages. Giving due importance to its huge popularity a number of film directors has tried to use hypnotism as the niche of their movies. Most of the movies have showcased negative effects of hypnotism and this has led to the development of negative feelings in public’s mind. People only understand and believe in what has been presented in front of them. A movie showcases a particular story on a very large platform. It has mass visibility and this is why it affects people more.
Hypnotism no doubt is a very well liked and accepted niche which people watch with curiosity. People actually are aware of the fact that on one side hypnotism can discover hidden secrets deep inside their mind which are related to their past and on the other hand it can transform the future by molding the subconscious mind. Hypnotism is all mind game. It takes a person into the unconscious state and then start correcting various things in his subconscious mind. Movies which were based on hypnotism are not few. The list can go on and on. But here we are mentioning a few of them, showing a successful relationship between hypnosis and movies.
Join us (2007) Jesus Camp Telefon A few good dykes Monarch A splatter of faith Ticket to heaven
All these movies related to hypnosis were made after the year 2004 and were very well accepted by the audience. All of these movies showcased how hypnotism can and does affect our lives. Hypnotism is not a negative therapy. But it is extremely powerful. Power if used in a negative way can destroy world and similar is the case with hypnotism. If the ones who are knowledgeable with this art use it for the benefit then it can never be missing used. Movies have always been a medium to promote hypnotism on a large scale. Movies which depict it as an useful art can surely bring the desired change that is required in the mindset of most of the people.

Where I’m at: Searching for Honest People in North Dallas

Posted by admin on 21 Jun 2009 | Tagged as: Dating, Help For You, Self Improvement Parlor

Usually, I eschew drama, but dating games don’t “get” me. I finally bottomed out, this week I filed three years of back taxes. To ease the pain while being single, surprise! You better believe it was great. Is that even legal? Well, it’s when I first thought about dating again in my area.

No problem. Figured I’d boost my dating life at Great Expectations Denver. And it sounds like a plan. Why do I bring it up? When I was a little tipsy at my boy’s t-ball game near North Dallas last night, my sister asked me if I’ve bumped into that special someone. They sure have nerve. I didn’t want to answer, but then laughed, “I’m eating here, and no.”

There’s nowhere to hide when The Old Tooter (aka: grandpa) kept pressing me about my companionship situation. I joked to the whole group: “Seriously, you would bring that up.”

Guess what? They all laughed at me. Perturbed, I fell asleep that night to put my dating woes behind me. But I couldn’t get it out of my head! I didn’t learn a thing. Billy, who recently moved to Italy recommended that I browse the singles profiles at Great Expectations. I said, “Sure, whatever.” But it really was a good idea. I will never regret joining Great Expectations Denver.

Early on, meeting new singles through dating services was new from my perspective. I showed up already a little anxious, that I spilled a glass of wine on my blazer. That slip up did not bring an end to us from enjoying ourselves. The evening was full of crazy-fun mingling. The greatest most memorable part of it all was the honest, desirable singles.

I started going to these incredibley satisfying Great Expectations Denver singles events, I met quite a few winners that must feel as excited as I am which made for a magnificent singles event. Don’t know why I ever let my family get me down about me being single at my age. Amazingly enough, doing things with Great Expectations is a lot of fun and just what I’ve been looking for.

Making a Powerful Beginning Thru My Well-Crafted Human Hair Wigs

Posted by admin on 19 Jun 2009 | Tagged as: Cosmetics, Healthy Stuff, Self Improvement Parlor

It’s not easy to talk about, but women’s hair loss and wigs weren’t even on my radar. Anchoring the nightly news was the thing that occupied my mind. That was true till last week when I started to lose my hair during chemotherapy. I determined that I cannot permit the possibility of appearing on TV as the balding Mr. Clean by sheer dumb luck.

I thought that I’d lost myself, robbed of beautiful hair. It became clear that there was nothing I could do to realize wonderful fashion and the hair to match. Girl, how mistaken. Way before I found my real human hair wig, I tried out a selection of hot fake hair extensions that made me uncomfortable. My partner Harry found me respectable, medical wig websites that carried authentic wigs I could wear proudly.

Well I jumped into the car and surveyed the options. I happened upon an array of beautiful, chic lace front wigs. Their tailored African American wigs suited me best.

With the proper wig, a proud individual like me may very well grow courage while growing comfortable with her medical hair loss. Never have I been so inspired to toss my freshest golden locks. It was exhilarating to proudly brush my hair while on the job.

But maybe things are not as great as they seem, but hair is integral to your confidence level. Is there more things to existence than a fabulous style of hair? Boy, I don’t care if that were so. Its true, medical wigs offer an important option for stylish ladies who can relate.

You would not believe what wigs have done for me. Not many comment on about me and women’s hair loss. Anyhow that’s life, I’m just glad to fearlessly approach my career again. Having hair again made so much better for my attitude on life.

Many may say this life’s course superficial. It’s not. Doesn’t everyone have something small that makes life so possible? For me, the secret is friends and my wig.

Embrace Your Wig!

Here is some info dealing with some of the familiar eye conditions which may result in you having to need prescription specs

Myopia - Short sightedness, near sightedness

Shortsighted people generally visualize well up close, but not at a distance. Distant objects appear blurred, whilst near objects are in focus.

DESCRIPTION

The eye ball is longer than usual, making the eye "too powerful." The image is focused at a point in front of the retina. The higher the degree of myopia, the shorter the point at which the Shortsighted can visualize clearly.

specs

SOLUTION

Myopia can be corrected with a concave lens which is thin in the centre and thick at the edge. This type of lens pushes the focus back onto the retina and restores good vision at any distance.

glasses

HYPEROPIA - Also known as long sightedness, far sightedness

Farsighted people visualize lots better at a distance compared to close up. Even though distant objects appear properly focused, the accommodation required to focus on near objects causes eyestrain.

DESCRIPTION

The eye ball is shorter than normal which means the eye is not powerful enough. The eye is said to be "too short" and the image is focused behind the retina.

ASTIGMATISM

People with astigmatism have poor near and distant vision. They do not comprehend the contrasts between horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines in the same style as the rest of us.

Astigmatism is always accompanied by another visual impairment, such as Myopia, hyperopia and Presbyopia.

DESCRIPTION

Astigmatism is usually caused by an irregularly-shaped cornea that is slightly oval, as opposed to round, and oblong instead of spherical.

What connects a mountain in Sudan with a neighborhood power Black-out?

Posted by admin on 14 May 2008 | Tagged as: Self Improvement Parlor

What do a power cut and a Sudanese mountain have in common?
Silence, sweet Silence! They can get you back to your source.

The Power (Cut) and the Beauty!

This evening, just as I was about to put my daughter’s favourite
meal - home made vegetable lasagne - into the oven, the lights
went off. A power cut had us standing slightly helpless in the
dark.

Luckily, the house is full of candles and my solar powered torch
always works, so we fumbled our way to the fuse box and then to
the door to find the street lights were off and everyone around
us was in darkness too. This was a first for us and I liked it.

My daughter was a little disappointed at having to replace
lasagne with bread and cheese, but there we sat by candle light
and made plans of what to do if this lasted for days. We felt a
little adventurous and talked about what it would have been like
to live without electricity, how people who have long power cuts
in freezing conditions cope…

And then, we noticed the silence - no buzz from the PC, no
music, no tv. My cell phone battery was flat, so I was
unreachable. How strangely liberating that was!

We went for a walk to find out how many houses or streets were
affected. Despite the October drizzle and the unusual darkness,
the sky seemed brighter than usual. But it was the silence that
felt best.

In our civilised world it is virtually impossible to experience
true silence. There is almost always the buzz of ’something’
around. Some years ago I had my most profound experience of
total stillness.

The Stillness of the Desert

Whilst in the deserts of Sudan, I left the little group I was
travelling with for a while to climb up a solitary mountain
(well, a rather high hill, really). Once I sat up there, I felt
‘on top of the world’. But what struck me most was the total and
complete stillness that surrounded me.

Not a car, no voices, no breeze, not even birds singing. I sat
and stared and thought and after a while my thoughts turned into
silence as well. No-thing became everything. It was one of the
most beautiful experiences in my life. Ever since, I have loved
the sound of silence.

Many people find silence unbearable. They need a background
‘noise’. Have you ever thought about why? Simple really, it
stops your inner voice from coming through. As long as there is
chatter, whether external or internal, you don’t have to face
‘you’. Whatever memories or fears may be lurking in the depths
of the subconscious mind can’t be heard against the deafening
din of ‘civilised’ life.

Silence Heals

The downside is, you also can’t heal your Self. You suppress all
the undigested ‘junk food’ of your life and keep it in your
system. Not a nice thought.

If you want progress, you have to get comfortable with silence
at some point - the sooner the better. But how? Let’s face it -
to sit on a mountain, alone in the middle of nowhere where you
simply can’t help but understand the true depth of just ‘being’,
is not something you get to do every day.

Apart from turning off radios, phones, TV’s, buzzing PC’s - how
can you turn off your buzzing mind?

Here’s How!

By doing what my Alexander Technique teacher showed us last
week…

Lie on your back , your knees raised and your feet flat on the
floor (or mattress). Rest your hands on your tummy and stretch
your arms a little (creating a V-shape at the side of your body)
to create room in your chest to breathe. Rest your head on
nothing but a flat book and feel the blanket or mattress beneath
you support your spine.

We did that during our lesson and it was wonderful. Lying in
silence, doing nothing, our bodies supported by the floor (or
bed, if you prefer). Normally, I meditate sitting up - this was
almost better, as I could totally relax my spine and let my mind
float in silence on the waves of my breath.

When the Lights Came Back Up

Now the power at home has returned, I felt I had to share my
thoughts on silence before the noise of the world rushes back
in. Perhaps one day I’ll stand with my daughter on a mountaintop
in Sudan - but until then, I’ll use every opportunity to teach
her - and myself - the power of silence.

White Sun - A Meaningful Life

Posted by admin on 12 May 2008 | Tagged as: Self Improvement Parlor

Many people take life for granted. Day after day, month after month, year after year without really giving a serious thought about the main objective of life. Maybe we are just too busy to think about it as we have to work very hard for a living and to put food on the table. How often we have to work beyond the nine-to-five routine in order to stay employed otherwise a long line of people is waiting to take over. But some of us do really think hard about it, “Do I live my life meaningfully and what should I do in order not to let my life get wasted?”

For a life span of eighty years, do we have any idea how much time we have spent on the very basic of living? The first ten years is the growing up and that leaves us with 70 years. The last ten years we might have lost our sense of logic or have some kind of physical disability. That leaves us with 60 years to do many others. Sleep will take out one third and that is 20 years and we are left with 40 years. Work or study usually will also take one third and that leaves us with balance of 20 years. We need to eat and the time we have to spend for buying food, preparing them and eating will take at least 2 or 3 hours a day and for the Chinese, the average is 4 hours a day. On the average of 3 hours a day to fill up our stomach together with other time for showers, driving and all sorts of other activities, we may have only 15 years to do really something meaningful. Out of 80 years of life, 65 years are for the very basic. How can we make use of the 15 years in order to have a meaningful life?

The first Emperor of the Qing Dynasty, Emperor Shun Zhi (1638 - 1697 AD), composed this poem:

“Without knowing why, people come into this world.

Without knowing where to go, they leave this world.

How meaningless their trips to this world are!

Who was I before I came into this world?

Who am I after I came into this world?

Not until I grew up did I understand what I was.

What will I be after I close my eyes?

Alas! I wish I hadn’t come, so I needn’t go.

Thus, I might be free from suffering and sorrow.”

Nobody knows who he was, where he will go after that and when he will go. Once a little girl who was dying of cancer asked her father a simple question and said:

“Father, you have been to many countries and seen many things, please can you tell me where I will go after I die?”

The father, a well-learned man, could not give her an answer and so his daughter left this world without knowing where she would go. Obviously the father was very sad and mournful for not been able to answer his daughter most wanted to know question before she died. Likewise, many of us come to this world without knowing why and most probably not knowing where and when to go. That is the reason why Emperor Shun Zhi said that it is meaningless to come into this world for many people. Being an emperor who had all the fame and riches, he left the palace to become a monk. In Malaysia, an heir to a billionaire also became a monk but in the practice of Tao of Heaven, we can cultivate in our normal lives, among our friends and families without having to renounce.

It is very important to have a meaningful life. We may have high ambitions and great goals to achieve, but living is not just to have a successful career and beautiful family. There was a legend in Chinese history about a man by the name of Peng Zhu who lived for about 820 years. He had just lived a very long life but nothing was said about his sayings or his virtues. On the other hand, Yen Hui, a disciple of Confucius, lived a very short but virtuous life of 32 years. He is until today remembered for his virtues and wise sayings and praised by Confucius. Yen Hui had a very meaningful life as compared to Peng Zhu. Likewise Jesus Christ lived a short life of about 33 years and yet after 2,000 years, millions of Christians remember him for his virtues and teachings, even though he did not have a very long life. They praise and worship him daily.

Unfortunately, we tend to place a lot of importance on our physical body and go out of our way to keep it happy even to the extent of committing sins. We cannot see the spiritual body within us and as we commit sins, we add bad karmic seeds to it. This results in the physical body having to suffer and cannot escape from the endless cycle of birth and death. Since ancient times, people with wisdom had worked very hard to accumulate merits in order to save the spiritual body for eternity. The physical body is only a means by which we can cultivate our spiritual body and what will happen if we do not help our spiritual body? We will add on to our mountain of bad karma and certainly we will suffer. It is very important to be the master of ourselves so that we can let our true nature take charge of us. Live a meaningful life and never be too late. We only have 15 years after taking out 65 years if we can live until 80 years old.

T.A Chew learned from God of Longevity that if we practise Tao, we can become like him who had already returned to Heaven for more than a million years. Many Tao practitioners after leaving this world had also manifested in the Temple of Tao of Heaven confirming that they too had returned to Heaven and enjoying eternal peace and bliss there. Some Advice for New Coaches

Posted by admin on 04 May 2008 | Tagged as: Self Improvement Parlor

What is the most important thing that a new coach should be aware of?
I coach quite a lot of coaches and I’m often asked this question.

This is my reply:

It would have been all too easy to slip into suggesting techniques to use, best practice to follow and questions to ask when answering this question. Fortunately I held back and on reflection it’s clear that the single most important thing that a new coach should be aware of is:

“Don’t get in the way!”

Successful coaching relies on a very special space between the client and the coach. It’s space of trust, empathy, sharing, intensity and oneness to give it a few qualities. It’s the place where coaching magic happens. Magic that has little to do with the perfect question, or well-honed technique or best practice.

There is a definite art to creating this space and some definite pitfalls that will prevent it from forming. A key skill of the coach is to hold this space by standing just on the periphery and not filling it by getting in the way.

So how can one go about creating this successful coaching space?

o Pace and Lead your client: Reflect the rhythm and amplitude of their body and voice energy in your own. Initial coaching sessions and the start of coaching sessions will be likely be very ‘busy’. Mimic this for a while and then take them to a more relaxed state of mind by slowing your body movement and voice.

o Take your time: Take time to calibrate where a new client is in terms of their own awareness - don’t rush things, all things flow more naturally when allowed to start off at their own pace.

o ‘Less is more’: silence is a powerful coaching tool. Don’t feel that you have to break the silence. Give the client plenty of time to access and articulate their feelings.

o Keep your enthusiasm under control: Sometimes a wish to help someone can result in a degree of ‘certainty’ that you know better than them what they need to do. All you need to do is enable your client to find their own answers.

o Be consistent: The other by-product of too much enthusiasm is that it can sometimes lead a coach to try several different techniques (confusing the issue and the client!) when just one well placed one will do the job much better.

o Leave judgements aside: Leave your own ideas and experiences outside the door. Your experience is not their experience and what worked for you is unlikely to work for them. Every client knows what works for them best. Help them find their own solutions. This will lead to deeper and faster change than providing advice.

o Be aware of timekeeping: it is not unusual when you first start to coach to over run on time quite considerably. Always ask your client how they would like it to be at the end of the session before you begin, in terms of ‘when you leave here at ..o’clock how would you like things to be for you?’ This focuses the intent of the session very firmly in a time bound way and will prevent drifting.
